ALLEGANY WINS AGAIN!
The Allegany High School Marching Band took
top honors at the 7th Annual Music in the
Park held at Memorial Park Stadium, Mechanicsburg,
Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 2, 2004.
This competition was hosted by the Mechanicsburg
High School Band Boosters and was sanctioned
by The Tournament of Bands. NOTE: TOB is
one of the largest competitive band organizations
in the country and currently has over 400
active schools encompassing nine states
(www.tob.org).
Ten high school marching bands
competed in Mechanicsburg. Allegany had
the highest score of these ten bands, 84.25.
The bands are classified by the number of
student performers involved with Group I
being the smallest and Group IV being the
largest. Allegany competed in Group III
for bands with 56 to 80 performers. Allegany
won the Group III competition involving
Lower Dauphin High School Big Blue Band,
South Western High School Marching Mustang
Band, and Urbana High School Mighty Hawks
Band. Allegany's performance for the 2004-2005
season is the theme "1984." Mr.
Larry T. Jackson is the Director of Bands
and is assisted by Mr. Brian T. White. Danielle
Kennedy is the drum major.
In addition to the performances
by the ten high school marching bands in
competition, exhibition performances were
given by the host band, Mechanicsburg High
School Wildcat Marching Band, and the Shippensburg
University Red Raider Marching Band.

NOTE: This was a night to be remembered.
Allegany took the field and a downpour of
rain commenced. It was water, water, everywhere!
BUT the band played on. The band performed
the signature, complicated marching and
maneuvering routine in extremely difficult
conditions. The Allegany band fans cheered
and surrounding supporters of other bands
commented favorably about the caliber of
Allegany and the endurance of Allegany under
the weather conditions.
