Band opens marching season

Band opens marching season HANCOCK The Allegany High School Marching Band opened its 2002 marching season on Sept. 14 at Hancock High School in the first Canal-Apple Tournament of Bands. Alleganys 2002 show is titled, Essays in Time. In a field of eight bands, Allegany finished as the Group 3 winner, as well as overall champion with a score of 80.40. Competition results were; Group 1, Northern Garrett 73.55, Westmar 64.60; Group 2, Southern Garrett 72.75, Musselman 70.15; Group 3, Allegany 80.40, Williamsport (Md.) 74.20; Group 4, Baldwin 74.95, Boonsboro 71.30. Allegany will continue its competitive season Saturday in Martinsburg, W.Va. at the Martinsburg High School Band Spectacular.
