Allegany band places first

CUMBERLAND - The Allegany High School Marching Band had the highest score of all bands, 82.5, at the Hedgesville (W.Va.) Showcase of Bands on Saturday.

Allegany was the only band to achieve 80 or higher. Its field show, "Diversion of Angels," features music composed for dancer Martha Graham in the 1940s.

Director Larry Jackson is assisted by Brian White. Senior Kayla Bloom was named best drum major.
