1984
The
Allegany High School Marching Band is proud to present
its 2004 field show, "1984". The show features
music from Bela Bartok, James Barnes, and Samuel Barber.
The novel "1984", written by George Orwell and
published in 1949, is widely considered one of the great
literary works of all time Newspeak, doublethink, thoughtcrime--in
1984, since passed into our common vocabulary. More importantly,
he has protrared a chillingly credible dystopia. In our
deeply anxious world, the seeds of unthinking conformity
are everwhere in evidence; and Big Brother is always looking
for his chance.
Through
the years the Allgany Band has been the recipient of many
awards for their marching and musical excellence. The
Allegany Marching Band is the reigning Chapter 13 champion
of the last four years, has captured seven state championships
in the last eight years and has finished the last six
seasons at the Atlantic Coast Championships as a gold
meal finalist band, placing in the top five each year.
The Allegany High School Marching Band is under the direction
of Larry Jackson.
